How do I get paid?

Last updated October 17, 2023

We have updated our weekly payment schedule to Tuesday so you get paid earlier! There is nothing required for you to do for payments to begin on the new schedule.

We deliver payments through direct deposit to your bank account. Payment cycles begin every Tuesday at midnight (12:00 AM ET) and stop at the end of Monday (11:59 PM ET). On Tuesday, we’ll send out payments for all jobs completed within the previous payment cycle. You should expect to receive the payment to arrive in your bank account within several business days.

For U.S bank accounts, we've found this is a fixed fee of $1 - much cheaper than PayPal! And you receive the amount within 2 to 3 business days though transfer times may vary depending on where your bank account is located.

Getting Started

1. Go to the Track Payments Page and sign up

When you sign up for Draft as a writer, please go to the Track Payments page on the left sidebar. On this page, you can enter your bank details. Once you've finished, you're all set for payments.

2. Auto-generated invoices from Draft

At the end of every Monday (11:59 PM EST), jobs completed in that week's payment cycle are closed. We will send out payments for that job the following Tuesday unless it overlaps with any national holidays in Canada. In this case, payments will be made the subsequent business day.

Additionally, jobs will not be included in that week's invoice until our internal team delivers the job to the client. Therefore, even if you've uploaded a job, it doesn't necessarily mean you will be paid for it in that week's invoicing cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which countries do you support?

When it comes to bank accounts, our payments portal can transfer to banks located in all countries except for North Korea, Iran, Russia, India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Countries in Africa (except South Africa). Some of these are due to regulatory restrictions and others due to Draft's inability to meet certain additional criteria when it comes to facilitating payments in these regions. We apologize for any inconveniences.

Note, processing times due to compliance checks may vary depending on where your bank account is based.

Does my account have to be a USD account?

No, while you do have to invoice us in USD, our payment portal can convert this into the respective currency associated with your bank. For example, if you invoice us USD 100 but connect a Canadian CAD bank account, then the $100 will be converted from USD to CAD for you by our payment partner  Trolley  at close to mid-market rate.

Can I continue to use PayPal instead?

Draft doesn't support writer payments through PayPal.

Do you support or plan on supporting payment platforms such as Payoneer?

Draft only manages payments through direct deposit to a writer's bank account and doesn't plan on using platforms such as Payoneer to facilitate this.

Who is your payment provider?

We use Trolley to facilitate our payments to writers. You can learn more about them here:  https://trolley.com/
