How to claim a job

Welcome to Draft! Check out the rest of this page to learn how to navigate your dashboard and useful tips to enhance your writing experience!

You are able to start claiming and completing customer jobs on our marketplace under the “New” tab. NOTE: New jobs aren't assigned to you specifically; they're available for all writers. You're not obligated to accept any of these jobs. Our platform is all about setting your own pace!

Click on a content request for more information.

You'll then see the deadline, word count, and other important details at the top of the page. Please ensure you claim jobs that you're able to complete on time.

To officially claim a job, click the “Claim” button at the bottom of the job page.

This tab shows all of the jobs that you have claimed and they are directly assigned to you only. You can click each job to open them when you need to refer to the brief while they are in progress.

This is your history tab of all your completed work. The jobs are categorized by their payment date. You can refer to this tab to check the payment cycles for each job and see when you will get paid for each week.

At the top right side of the page of the dashboard home page, you can filter through available jobs for job types and topics that interest you, as well as the length of the jobs.

The New Writer's Guide to Navigating the Dashboard

There are a few different job types you may come across in your Draft dashboard:

 (you've worked with this customer in the past, they loved your work, and they want to keep working with you)


sent to you and the other preferred writers on the team first 

 whenever one of these jobs becomes available.

Youmust take action on these jobs, by either 

. If you're interested but the deadline isn't good fit, ask for 

 or reach out to support if the option isn't there.

New Customer Jobs are jobs coming in from new customers on Draft and have a yellow bar on the left side of their posting.

They don't have a preferred writer yet so if you're interested in the topic and claim their first article, you might continue to work with them in the future.

These jobs are sometimes offered with additional compensation.

Other Jobs refer to other jobs available on our platform that are from existing customers.

Job Types

Sometimes you might not see any jobs in the dashboard - that's ok! Demand from customers fluctuates every week and some weeks might be lighter than others. We find that writers tend to claim jobs quickly when there are less available in the marketplace. If you find that there are no jobs available during the week, try waiting a few days before checking again. Also, make sure our email notifications aren't being delivered to your spam folder.

There are less common circumstances when you might not being seeing work in your dashboard. If you haven't passed your test assignment or are on Limited Access you won't be able to see any jobs in the dashboard. 

Why am I not seeing new work on the dashboard?

If this is for a job you've already claimed or one that you're a preferred writer for, use the in-app messaging feature on the job details page to directly reach out to the customer and ask for clarification. We recommend reaching out to customers as soon as possible so you're able to complete the job before the deadline.

If you're looking at an available job and feel the job isn't clear: reach out to us on live-chat and let us know. We'll then be able to grab more details from the customer to help make the brief clearer. When reaching out to us, just pass along the questions or details you feel are missing in the brief right now.
