How do you ensure quality?

We provide royalty-free image sourcing for your content when requested, using popular websites such as unsplash.com. 

If you have a premium account on a service such as AdobeStock or iStock, you can ask that the writer provides you with suggested image IDs.

Do you provide images?

We do preliminary research on all content using publicly available information and include sources for any facts or statistics we quote. Please specify your requirements for types of sources (i.e. .edu, .gov), number of sources, and citations if applicable.

Do you do research?

Creating engaging content can be an iterative process so we offer free edits/revisions on any content you receive in case you'd like some tweaks. Our goal is to get you content that you're happy with and that delivers value to your readers!

If you have existing content and you would like to have it edited by our team, we provide proofreading services as well. This is charged at the same price per word. Select "Proofreading" as the content type.

We offer edits and revisions on any content we do for you and we also proofread existing content you have.

Do you offer edits or revisions?

Draft requests need to be a minimum of 300 words but other than that, they can be as long as you want them to be! 

The longer the content you require, the more time it takes to write. If you're looking for a very long piece (20K words+) you could be looking at a 2-3 month turnaround time. 

If you're looking for multiple pieces to be completed, our recommendation is to submit it as separate requests so they can be done in parallel by our writers and delivered back to you faster.

For reference, most blog posts are 1000-1500 words in length. You can reference our pricing for purchasing words 

You can break up your word quota however you like, as long as each request is a minimum of 300 words. We can tackle each content request in parallel for you to maximize the content created in a month.

How many pieces of content will I get?

Draft lets you use Zapier to connect our platform with external tools you may be using to manage your editorial calendar.

We've typically seen clients use Zapier to connect their Notion, Airtable, or Asana with our platform as a way to help seamlessly send in content briefs to have it turned around by the platform and delivered back.

Here's a simple guide on how to use our Zapier Integration.

Setting up an integration connection on Draft

Head to your My Account tab, and click Integrations to view your API keys.

Type in a name for your API key in the open text field and click Create new API Key. This will pop open a modal that shares with you the secret API key.

 somewhere as once you close the modal you won't be able to access it.

You will also notice the API key you generated comes with an id, make a note of this too before switching over to the Zapier platform. 

In this example, we'll quickly show you how to trigger a content request on our platform.

On Zapier, head to creating a new Zap, and then start by adding the appropriate trigger. 

In the example below, we've used Airtable where any new record that's created in a database will act as a trigger for this Zap.

Now, in your Actions. Search the app 'ContentFly' and add it, and then select the action 'Request an Article'. This will be the action used to trigger a content request in our platform.

In the next step, it'll ask you to connect to your specific ContentFly account. Click 'Connect a new account' here.

A window will pop up, asking you for both the Id and the Secret API Key we had mentioned earlier in this help guide:

Paste both of these values in, and then hit 'Yes, Continue'. When your account is successfully connected, you'll see a set of fields that mirror the fields provided in our content request flow. You can then populate these fields by using the data fed through in the trigger step of this Zap (in our case Airtable record data).

Once you've connected the necessary fields, continue on to test the Zap and then turn it on to successfully have your first integration working.

Here are our estimated turnaround times based on length. Please note these can vary at times depending on complexity and the bandwidth of the marketplace.

When you've submitted a content request on your dashboard, you'll be able to view the estimated deadline for when the piece will be completed and returned to you.

We're currently unable to offer expedited turnaround times, the deadline on the dashboard is when you can expect the content back.

Note that the turnaround time can vary based on the complexity of the article or if clarification is needed.

How to write a great brief & submit it on Draft

A content brief is a document that provides guidance to a writer on creating a specific piece of content. Depending on the type of content, such as blog posts, white papers, webinar scripts, or product pages, the final brief will vary. Nonetheless, the fundamental principles of a content brief remain consistent across all types.

Developing a successful content brief is a skill that requires expertise. However, if too much information is given, the writer might feel overwhelmed and unable to exercise their creative flexibility, potentially jeopardizing their motivation and job performance.

At Draft, we’ve had the chance to see a wide variety of content briefs. From our experience, we’ve found the following 

 are critical to getting back content that exceeds your expectations from our writers.

Anything else is a nice-to have and strongly encouraged, but also something our writers can collaborate with you on and seek clarity through the writing process.

1.     What’s the key topic and the intent of the topic?

This translates into a clear topic and set of subheadings that are able to highlight the key talking points or messages you’d like to convey in the piece. Either by writing out, or even linking us a Loom video of you talking through your vision and goal of the piece. This can be incredibly helpful in helping our writers get an executive summary of what you’re hoping to achieve.

At minimum, we always encourage conveying the following right off the bat when putting through a content request:

What topic would you like to write about?

What are the takeaways you'd like the reader to achieve?


2.     What’s the secondary business objective of the content request?

Are the supporting instructions you’re sharing clear and well aligned with the overall intent of the piece. For example, is this content piece designed to help with SEO strategies, or to act as a thought leadership / pillar piece for your brand.  

Are you looking to beat out competitive pieces already published by providing more value, or are you looking to have the writer to take a unique spin or perspective on the topic that hasn’t been done before?

Giving the writer an understanding of how this content piece plays into the overall strategy of your marketing efforts can be helpful, and where it may live – Top, Middle, or Bottom of Funnel.

Existing content posts you can link or share to the writer from your brand/business that gives them an idea of your high level brand tone/voice and any unique brand guidelines

Third party or competitive content that you're hoping the writer can emulate or beat

Any unique research material that can help them with the above

3.     To what degree do technical requirements need to be met?

Finally, when sharing technical requirements such as SEO keywords provide guidance on if they are intended to be easily incorporated without sacrificing fluidity or do they have to be forced for ranking / algorithm purposes.

Is the word length a suggested word length you’d be flexible in, or something that is fixed the writer must adhere to?

If you'd like royalty free images, any guidance you can provide on how many you need (we recommend 1 or 2 max.) and where to find them is also helpful.
